Suu Kyi Receives Honorary Degree in South Korea
Applause for Myanmar's pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi as she receives an honorary doctorate from South Korea's Seoul National University. The former political prisoner, who was under house arrest for almost 15 years in Myanmar, was recognised for her commitment to human rights and education. Delivering a speech on democracy and development in Asia, Suu Kyi said she was particularly pleased to be in Seoul since Koreans had experienced many of the same struggles as Myanmar.
