Want to stay at the Waldorf? You'll soon have additional opportunities outside New York City.

Hilton plans to launch a line of luxury hotels using the legendary Waldorf-Astoria designation.

Beginning next month, Hilton will re-brand three U.S. resorts that it manages.

They will keep their original names, but get an added designation, "The Waldorf-Astoria Collection".

They are the Grand Wailea Resort Hotel on the island of Maui, The Arizona Biltmore in Phoenix and the La Quinta Resort and Club near Palm Springs, Calif.

Hilton said it also plans to build new hotels using the Waldorf-Astoria name.

Hilton has owned the landmark New York hotel on Park Avenue since 1949.

Hilton said the change takes effect on Jan. 31.

Hilton owns more than 2,300 hotels in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

The company employs about 55,000 people worldwide.
