A company called Sling Media has come up with a new way to make it more convenient to watch TV.

Do you want a Slingbox?

The device is called the Slingbox. It looks like a bar of gold or an oversized chocolate bar. Slingbox takes full control of your home TV and whatever is attached to it.

It works with a standard Windows PC. You hook up the Slingbox to the TV and the computer. The device then allows you to watch your home TV from anywhere in the world through your laptop.

Some have taken to calling the technology "place-shifting." Some use the term "time-shifting" for what personal video recorders let people do.

If you have cable or satellite TV or a personal video recorder such as Tivo, it's all connected.

Whatever you can do with your TV, you can do on your computer with the Slingbox.

The Slingbox is available at Best Buy and CompUSA, and sells for about $250.
