ATLANTA -- JaQuitta Williams has been a reporter for WSB-TV/Channel 2 since 2004. You can catch JaQuitta on the Channel 2 Action News Saturday and Sunday newscasts at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.A native of Augusta, JaQuitta is a Southerner at heart. Her bubbly personality and southern charm have enabled her to quickly make friends wherever she goes.She came to Atlanta after serving as a morning anchor and reporter at KSHB-TV/NBC Action News in Kansas City, Mo. While there, she hosted "Lifetime Moments," a weekday program that featured inspirational stories about women and their families.Prior to joining KSHB-TV, JaQuitta worked as an anchor and reporter at WLFL-TV in Raleigh, N.C., WBIR-TV in Knoxville, Tenn., and WRDW-TV in North Augusta, S.C.JaQuitta's introduction into the world of broadcasting began when she was in college at Savannah State College.Having sung throughout her life in church choirs, school choirs, college choirs, pageants and fairs, JaQuitta initially enrolled as a music student when she arrived at Savannah State.But she followed the advice of a close friend and enrolled in a broadcast journalism class. JaQuitta found that she loved the course so much she changed majors and her future career in television news was born.JaQuitta's career includes several big moments but one of the highlights was interviewing R&B singer James Brown, who also hails from Augusta.Not only did she interview the legendary singer but also opened for him during a concert to celebrate his birthday.JaQuitta is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., along with the National Association of Black Journalists and the Atlanta Association of Black Journalists.You can email JaQuitta at jaquitta.williams@wsbtv.com
