Pam Martin anchors Channel 2 Action News at noon Monday through Friday and files reports for Channel 2 Action News at 5 and 6 as well as special investigative reporting.She came to WSB-TV in 1989 as an anchor/reporter.She was born and raised in St. Louis, Mo. She graduated from Parkway Central High School, where she was National Honor Society president, class vice president and associate editor of the high school newspaper. She graduated from Southern Methodist University with honors in three years, earning a degree in journalism.She was sports editor of her college newspaper and the first woman allowed to cover sports events from the Texas A&M press box.Pam came to Channel 2 from another network affiliate in Atlanta, and previously was anchor/reporter in Little Rock, Ark., and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.Recent awards in 2000 include an Emmy for her coverage of the Mill fire in Atlanta, a Society of Professional Journalists award for best documentary for "Georgia's Panda Project," and an Associated Press Honorable Mention for the same documentary. Previous awards include local Emmy awards for anchoring and series reporting, an Associated Press Award for a series and an AABJ for series reporting.She and her husband, attorney Larry Kent Butler, live on a farm, where they have horses, cattle, dogs and cats.
