Atlanta Native Joining WSB-TV As Anchor/Reporter

ATLANTA -- Marian Pittman, news director for Channel 2 Action News, announced that Justin Farmer will join the Channel 2 news staff as an anchor/reporter.Viewers should recognize his resemblance to well-known former Channel 2 anchorman, Don Farmer. Justin’s dad retired from Channel 2 in 1997.“I’ve followed his career as he developed into an experienced journalist and anchor over the years. I am thrilled to have him join our team,” said Pittman. “Growing up in the business he already knows so much about WSB-TV and Atlanta.”Currently, Farmer anchors the morning and noon newscasts for WFAA in Dallas. He has covered some of the biggest Texas stories from the gulf coast hurricanes, to tornadoes, and the Dallas Mavericks' run through the NBA Finals. In 2006, his morning newscast was awarded an Emmy for Best Newscast.Before WFAA, Farmer worked for the FOX O&O station in Denver where he helped launch a morning broadcast and covered the 2004 Presidential election live from Washington D.C.Prior to Denver, Farmer worked for the market-leading CBS affiliate (KWTV) in Oklahoma City. Early in his career, he was a sportscaster for CNN and CNN/Sports Illustrated in Atlanta.Born at Georgia Baptist Hospital, he grew up in Atlanta and Alpharetta. Farmer’s first job was working for the Atlanta Falcons as a ball boy. He earned a political science degree from Boston College before returning to Georgia to start his broadcasting career in Albany.Farmer and his wife have two children. His mother, sister and many friends live in the Atlanta area and he never gave up his Falcons season tickets.
