Fred Blankenship joined WSB-TV Channel 2 in June, 2007.

Before coming to Atlanta he worked for KGTV in San Diego.

Prior to KGTV he worked at KRON in San Francisco and KAKE in Wichita, Kansas. In Kansas he chased storms on a regular basis developing an expertise at covering severe weather.

Blankenship received the prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award for the documentary "About Race," a study of cultural and social behaviors of different ethnic groups.

A Los Angeles native, he received his degree from the University of San Francisco.
