John Bachman

John joined Monica Pearson as co-anchor for Channel 2 Action News at 4 p.m. when the station launched the additional hour of early evening news on May 26, 2011. He now anchors Channel 2 Action News at 4 with Erin Coleman.

The 4 p.m. newscast started after the The Oprah Winfrey Show signed off its final season.Bachman came to WSB-TV Channel 2 in June, 2007, working as a reporter as well as the anchor for the weekend early evening newscasts.He grew up in a television newsroom with his dad, who's been an anchor for more than 30 years.

 

John graduated from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota and started following in his dad's footsteps.His first job was at KELO-TV in Sioux Falls, South Dakota for 6 years.While there one of his favorite stories was following a South Dakota musher to the Iditarod sled dog race in Alaska.

 

In 2003, he moved to WRAL-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina. John covered real hurricanes and the NHL's Carolina Hurricanes when they won the Stanley Cup in 2006.He lives in Cobb County with his wife and daughters.The family likes to spend time on the Silver Comet Trail with their golden retriever.When not chasing dog and daughter he likes to play golf, catch a baseball game, or read a good book.
