Falcons hold on, defeat Seahawks 34-31

SEATTLE — The Atlanta Falcons (6-4) defeat the Seattle Seahawks (6-4) on "Monday Night Football."

The Falcons, coming off a huge home victory against the Dallas Cowboys, stay within striking distance of the division-leading New Orleans Saints (8-2).

11:57 p.m.

The Falcons (6-4) are now just two games behind the division-leading Saints. Atlanta's next three games will be played at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium

11:50 p.m.

Blair Walsh misses the game-tying field goal and the Falcons hold on to win. Final score, 34-31.

11:39 p.m.

The Falcons go 3-and-out, and the Seahawks get the ball back with just under 2 minutes left.

11:32 p.m.

The Seahawks go right down the field and cash in on a 29-yard Doug Baldwin touchdown. The 2-point conversion attempt was good, too. Falcons lead 34-31 with 3:00 left.

11:21 p.m.

The Falcons go on a long, clock-consuming drive and come away with 3 points. The lead is now 34-23 with less than 4 minutes left in the game.

10:50 p.m.

Blair Walsh hits a 46-yard field goal and the Seahawks cut into the lead. Atlanta is up 31-23 late in the 3rd quarter.

10:38 p.m.

Matt Ryan finds a wide open Levine Toilolo for a 25-yard touchdown. Falcons extend the lead to 31-20.

The Seahawks get 3 points on the opening drive of the second half. It's 24-20.

After yet another good kick return, the Seahawks looked ready to steal a late field goal. Then the Falcons stopped a fake field goal attemp. Thegame heads to the half. The Falcons lead 24-17.

9:58 p.m.

Matt Bryant drills a 44-yard field goal and the Falcons lead is now 24-17 late in the first half.

9:42 p.m.

The Seahawks go for it on 4th-and-goal from inside the 1 and convert. Atlanta's lead is now just 21-17 with 5:21 to go in the 2nd quarter.

9:29 p.m.

Seattle kicks a field goal and it's 21-10.

9:19 p.m.

Less than one minute into the 2nd quarter and the Falcons have a defensive touchdown! Atlanta leads 21-7.

9:12 p.m.

It's the end of the 1st quarter and the Falcons lead 14-7.

The Seahawks go 65 yards in 9 plays and cut the lead in half. It's 14-7 Falcons late in the 1st quarter.

8:50 p.m.

The Falcons make the Seahawks pay for the turnover. An amazing catch by Mohamed Sanu puts Atlanta up 14-0.

Desmond Trufant intercepts the Russell Wilson pass and the Falcons are knocking on the doorstep again.

Falcons go right down the field and score on a 1-yard Tevin Coleman touchdown. Atlanta leads 7-0 early in the 1st quarter.
