Top performances from Week 3

ATLANTA — Newton junior A.J. Palomino doesn't show up on many recruiting radars, but he was able to put together a nice highlight tape after making a team-leading 11 tackles in Friday's game against Lowndes. (You can see it here on YouTube).

Newton held Lowndes to 208 yards of total offense in the 15-14 upset victory.

Here are some of Georgia’s top performers from last week.

*Baldwin RB Kentavious Thomas rushed for 252 yards and three touchdowns on 29 carries in a 35-21 victory over Peach County.

*Dutchtown RB Brandon Robertson rushed for 301 yards on 23 carries and scored five touchdowns (both school records) in a 53-33 victory over Henry County.

*Landmark Christian RB Stockton McGuire rushed for 178 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries, threw a 16-yard TD pass and kicked a 36-yard field goal in a 37-18 victory over Wilkinson County.

*Newton MLB A.J. Palomino had 11 tackles – four for losses totaling 13 yards – in a 15-14 victory over Lowndes.

*Vidalia SS/TB Tra Hardy rushed for 185 yards on 15 carries, intercepted two passes, recovered a fumble and had 89 yards in turnover returns in a 35-7 victory over McIntosh County Academy.

*Aquinas RB Ruben Garrett rushed for 164 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries in a 19-16 overtime victory over George Walton Academy.

*Buford RB Joshua Thomas rushed for 139 yards on 13 carries, and his 77-yard TD run in the second quarter broke the game open in a 38-14 victory over Gainesville.

*Burke County QB Donquell Green scored five touchdowns and passed for another in a 55-0 victory over Hephzibah. He rushed for 187 yards on nine carries.

*Calhoun WR Tydus Curtis had seven receptions for 169 yards and two touchdowns in a 17-2 victory over Dalton.

*Camden County DB Darryle Israel had four tackles for losses, two sacks and a fumble recovery in a 55-0 victory over Johnson of Savannah.

*Campbell DB/RB Mike Rogers rushed for 219 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries, made six solo tackles and intercepted a pass in a 37-19 victory over Osborne.

*Carrollton RB Trey Chivers rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns on five carries and scored on a 53-yard pass in a 63-0 victory over Chapel Hill.

*Carver of Columbus sophomore QB Jawon Pass was 16-of-21 passing for 280 yards and two touchdowns in a 48-24 victory over Shaw. Pass also scored two touchdowns.

*Christian Heritage QB Trevor Brown was 12-of-20 passing for 218 yards and three touchdowns in a 51-0 victory over Murray County. Brown has 568 yard passing for seven touchdowns on the season.

*Dunwoody RB/DB/QB Aaron Alexander rushed for 157 yards and a touchdown, caught three passes for 79 yards and a touchdown and made five tackles in a 30-12 loss to Lakeside of Atlanta.

*Elbert County sophomore QB Mecole Hardman rushed for 244 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries, was 2-of-4 passing for 10 yards and caught one pass for a 34-yard touchdown in a 27-19 victory over Cedar Shoals. Elbert had been 0-7-1 against Cedar since last winning in 1972.

*Etowah RB Brandon Engle rushed for 277 yards – 203 in the third quarter – on eight carries in a 44-17 victory over Centennial. He had two touchdowns, on runs of 87 and 80 yards.

*Forest Park RB Dejuann Simms rushed for 209 yards on 32 carries and scored 20 points in a 36-28 victory over Morrow that ended an 11-game losing streak.

*Gilmer LB/TE Austin Cole had 11 tackles, two for losses, and had three receptions for 117 yards and a touchdown in a 33-13 victory over Sonoraville.

*Harris County RB Esaias Chapman rushed for 217 yards and a touchdown in a 38-27 victory over LaGrange. Keith Jenkins rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns. Harris County trailed 27-10 in the fourth quarter.

*Hughes RB Keion Davis scored all five of his team’s touchdowns in a 35-0 victory over Luella. Three were runs, one a reception and the other a 95-yard kickoff return to open the game. He rushed for 130 yards on 17 carries.

*Kell RB Josh Bettistea rushed for 189 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries in a 39-0 victory over Paulding County. Bettistea has 336 rushing yards on 24 carries in Allatoona’s 2-0 start.

*Lakeside of Atlanta RB Kellyen Walker rushed for 244 yards and two touchdowns in a 30-12 victory over Dunwoody.

*Liberty County LB Jeremy Caldwell-Fabregas had 14 tackles, four for losses, a sack and an interception in a 19-16 victory over Appling County.

*Locust Grove LB Garrett Wallace had 20 solo tackles, and one for a loss, and eight assists in a 7-3 victory over Ola. Wallace has 34 tackles in two games.

*Madison County RB Garrison Harris rushed for 195 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries in a 28-14 victory over Franklin County.

*Mary Persons RB/DB Akebren Ralls caught two TD passes totaling 99 yards and made a critical interception in a 21-3 victory over Jones County.

*Milton RB Treyvon Paulk scored four touchdowns and rushed for 102 yards on 15 carries In a 56-13 victory over Johns Creek. Paulk has 330 yards rushing and seven touchdowns in Milton’s 2-0 start. LB Charlie Fault had three tackles for losses in the Johns Creek game.

*M.L. King QB Roland Rivers threw five TD passes on 13-of-16 passing for 195 yards in a 48-10 victory over Southwest DeKalb.

*North Oconee RB Kawon Bryant rushed for 157 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries in a 28-23 loss to No. 2 St. Pius. Bryant also had five receptions for 52 yards.

*Riverwood QB Grant Drakeford rushed for 117 yards and was 6-for-11 passing for 138 yards and a touchdown in a 35-21 victory over Holy Innocents’. Izaiah Prouse-Lackey had 15 tackles, two for losses.

*Rutland QB Timori Northcutt passed for 257 yards, rushed for 80 yards and had a hand in three touchdowns in a 42-23 victory over Spalding. RB Montez Cheney rushed for 174 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries. Rutland is 2-0 for the first time in its 11-year history.

*Shiloh QB Wil Larimore threw six TD passes in a 56-0 victory over Redan. Larimore was 19-of-24 for 291 yards and no interceptions. WR Cameron Stewart had six receptions for 160 yards and three touchdowns.

*St. Pius DB/RB Nick Ruffin had nine of his team’s 40 tackles and a sack and rushed for 72 yards on three carries in a 28-23 victory over North Oconee.

*Stephenson DE Chauncey Rivers had four sacks and another tackle for a loss in a 56-14 victory over Arabia Mountain.

*Tift County WR/KR Malik Henry scored three touchdowns on three touches in a 47-21 victory over Houston County. He scored on a 90-yard kickoff return, 70-yard punt return and 40-yard reverse from scrimmage.

*Toombs County RB Jamar Smith rushed for 208 yards on 34 carries and scored his team’s four touchdowns in a 34-27 overtime loss to Bryan County. Smith has rushed for 439 yard and seven touchdowns in two games.

*Union Grove QB Jonathan Slade was 10-of-13 passing for 267 yards and two touchdowns in a 28-14 victory over Woodland of Stockbridge.

*Walker RB/LB Gaines LaHue rushed for 117 yards on 11 carries and scored on runs of 36 and 50 yards and made three tackles on defense in a 42-7 victory over North Cobb Christian.

*Washington County QB/S A.J. Gray rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries, was 6-of-8 passing for 183 yards and a touchdown, made six tackles and intercepted a pass in a 49-13 victory over Emanuel County Institute. Also surpassing 100 yards rushing were Denyale Wicker (130) and Melvin Hill (104).

*Westminster DE Ross Johnston had nine tackles, three for losses totaling 18 yards, in a 24-6 victory over Laney.

*Wheeler QB Elijah Staley passed for 277 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 86 yards and two scores in less than three quarters of a 59-20 victory over Pope.
