ATLANTA — Malkom Parrish, the Brooks County quarterback who passed for more than 3,000 yards and rushed for nearly 1,000 in 2012, leads GHSF Daily’s preseason all-state team for Class AA.
Parrish, projected as a cornerback in college, has committed to Georgia. He’s joined on the team by another Georgia-committed player, Heard County OL Jake Edwards.
Georgia Tech also has two committed players on the AA preseason all-state team. They are Lamar County teammates Lawrence Austin (RB) and Qua Searcy (DB). A third, Lance Austin, might’ve made the team were his primary high school position not quarterback.
Other AA preseason all-state players who have made their college decisions are Lovett DB/RB Grant Haley (Vanderbilt) and Westminster DL Sam Schmal (Boston College), both from Region 6.
Defending champion Jefferson is represented by TE Donnie Hatfield and OL Jordan Tyler. Runner-up Calhoun placed two players in OL Katrova Drew and LB Will Conley.
