No. 1-ranked Sandy Creek on Thursday Night Football

Over the last five seasons, Sandy Creek has compiled a blistering 54-3 record, along with a pair of state championships.

On Thursday, Sandy Creek (2-0) will play the only team it has lost against in the regular season since 2007, East Coweta (1-1).

It will start at 7:30 p.m. at Sandy Creek.

It will be televised live on WSB-TV/Me-TV 2.2, which can be found on the following cable systems by channel number: Comcast 248 (Metro Atlanta, Calhoun, Rome), Charter 126 (Metro Atlanta, Athens), Windstream 871 (Dahlonega, Hiawassee, Cornelia, Commerce), ETC 190 (Ellijay, Cherokee, Pickens, Gilmer, Fannin), Plantation 601 (Green, Putnam) and Knology 168 (West Point). In the 2008 season opener, East Coweta edged Sandy Creek 28-27. It was a wake-up call for the Patriots, which proceeded to reel off 14 wins in a row, including the Class AAAA state championship.

"East Coweta is a program with a strong history and tradition," Sandy Creek coach Chip Walker told Michael Carvell of the Atlanta Journal-Constituion. "The other thing, we're getting to play a larger classification team, which will be good for us. They were our last regular-season loss, back in the beginning of 2009, and we certainly don't want to repeat anything like that on Thursday."

Sandy Creek, ranked No. 1 in Class AAAA, presents a big challenge for East Coweta, especially off the heels of its 27-6 loss to Archer last week. “We’ve got our hands full,” East Coweta coach Clint Wade said.
