Parkview and Norcross are both Class AAAAAAA schools but in different regions. They both wanted a tough opponent before the region schedule.

"I try to play good opponents in the preseason to get us ready for the region," Norcross coach Keith Maloof told Michael Carvell of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "Parkview has a great tradition over there. When they won three state championships, we played them as good as anybody."

“We picked up the series a few years ago, I like playing Parkview," Maloof continued. "I like playing physical teams. Their coaches put them in different formations, and I like our kids being able to see a lot of different stuff prior to going into the region schedule.”

“I think we match up well," Parkview coach Cecil Flowe said. "They’ve got some awful fine players, but I think we do, too.”
