Georgia, Auburn among nation's best on defense

ATLANTA — Two of the nation’s top defenses will be on display Saturday when Georgia faces Auburn in the SEC Championship game.

Both are among the nation’s best in several statistical categories, including total defense.

The Georgia vs. Auburn game will be broadcast on radio by News 95.5 and AM 750 WSB.

Georgia (11-1, 7-1) ranks fourth nationally in total defense, allowing only 271.9 yards per game. Auburn (10-2, 7-1) is 11th in the nation, allowing just 303 yards per game.

The Dawgs rank 12th nationally in rushing defense, allowing only 112.5 yards per game. Auburn ranks 21st, giving up 125.9 yards per game on the ground.

UGA ranks third nationally in passing yards allowed per game, surrendering just 159.4 yards per gave through the air. The Tigers rank 14th, giving up 177.3 yards per game.

Georgia’s 13.8 points allowed per game ranks fifth in the nation. Auburn’s 16.4 rank ninth in the nation.
