Falcons' Ovie Mughelli out for the year

ATLANTA,None — An NFL source has told WSB Channel 2 Sports Director Zach Klein that Falcons all-pro fullback Ovie Mughelli is out for the year after tearing his MCL. Mughelli will undergo surgery on his right knee and faces five months of rehabilitation.

Mughelli, who had two touchdown receptions this year, the first time in a single season since 2006, was injured in the fourth quarter of Sunday's victory over the Detroit Lions.

Jason Snelling is expected to fill the void left by Mughelli.

To fill Mughelli's spot on the roster, the Falcons, according to a different league source, are expected to sign Mike Cox. Cox played his college ball at Georgia Tech and was most recently with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Falcons are off this week on a bye and return to the field Nov. 6 in Indianapolis to face the (0-7) Colts.
