Soldier proposes at Braves game

ATLANTA — It was a memorable weekend at Turner Field, starting with the retirement of Chipper Jones' No. 10 and ending with a surprise proposal on television.

First Lt. Ariel Castro popped the question during the third inning of Sunday's Braves-Diamondbacks game, stunning his girlfriend Cherie Byron.

Castro is stationed at Fort Benning and had just returned from Afghanistan nine days earlier.

Byron thought they were being interviewed about the game by Fox Sports South, but suddenly Castro got down on one knee.

The proposal came during a special Salute to the Troops held by the sports network and the Braves.
