Posted: 2:02 pm EST February 18, 2005

The Cincinnati Reds and pitcher Ramon Ortiz have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with a mutual option for 2006.

Ortiz, who was scheduled for arbitration Friday afternoon, was acquired from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in exchange for pitcher Dustin Moseley in December.

The 31-year-old Ortiz was signed by the Angels as an amateur free agent and threw in 157 games (137 starts) for the team from 1999-2004. He went 5-7 with a 4.43 ERA in 34 games, including 14 starts and 20 relief appearances, in 2004.

Ortiz, whose career record is 59-49 with a 4.60 ERA, was 15-9 with a 3.77 ERA during the 2002 season. He was the winning pitcher in Game 3 of the 2002 World Series against San Francisco. The Angels beat the Giants in seven games.
