San Francisco, CA -- (Sports Network) - San Francisco starting pitcher Randy Johnson, who has been on the disabled list since July 6, has a tear in his rotator cuff and has been transferred to the 60-day DL.The updated injury status was revealed after an MRI exam performed on Monday. The left-handed twirler was placed on the DL with what was deemed at the time as a left shoulder strain. However, Giants manager Bruce Bochy announced prior to Tuesday's game against the Pirates that the "Big Unit"'s rotator tear will most likely keep the future Hall of Famer on the shelf until at least early September when he is eligible to return. In other club news, outfielder Nate Schierholtz was placed on the 15-day DL (left hip strain) to make room for Ryan Garko, who was acquired on Monday from Cleveland for minor league pitcher Scott Barnes.
