A British tabloid claimed it has a sex tape of Max Mosley, the president of Formula One's governing body, the International Automobile Federation (FIA).

The News of the World alleged that the 67-year-old took part in a "sadomasochistic orgy" with five prostitutes that included Nazi role-playing.

According to the newspaper, Mosley and the women re-enacted a scene from a concentration camp, which included mock death-camp uniforms and Mosley barking orders in German.

Mosley is the son of the late Oswald Mosley, the founder of the pre-war British Union of Fascists and a friend of Hitler's, the tabloid reported.

The News of the World claimed the act took place Friday in an apartment near Mosley's London home. He allegedly paid the prostitutes 2,500 pounds, or about $5,000.

ESPN and Reuters reported that F1's governing body was trying to keep its distance from the allegations.

"This is a matter between Mr. Mosley and the paper in question," an FIA spokesman said, according to ESPN.

F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone said the allegations against Mosley shouldn't have an impact on the league.

"I find it difficult to believe. It's his business, but it sounds to me like a set-up. Has he in any way damaged F1? No," he told London's Daily Mail.

Mosley has been the president of the FIA since 1993. He made headlines when he asked for a crackdown on racism in the sport after driver Lewis Hamilton was discriminated against by Spanish spectators.

Mosley is married with two sons.
