Hill Fits Perfectly With Suns
(Sports Network) - Veteran forward Grant Hill is proving to be a great free agent acquisition for Phoenix. The 35-year-old Hill inked a reported two-year deal during the offseason with the Suns.A six-time All-Star, Hill, who has been hampered by injuries throughout his career, is averaging 15.6 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists in 17 games for the Suns, who are 13-4 and sit in first place in the Pacific Division. Hill has scored in double-digits in 15 contests this season. The Duke product is shooting 48.8 percent from the field, including 31.7 percent from beyond the arc. He has logged over 30 minutes 13 times for Phoenix, which is four games ahead of the Lakers and Golden State in the Pacific. Two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash, who is second on the team in scoring (18.9 ppg), leads the Suns in assists (11.1 apg) and continues to make all of his teammates better with his unbelievable play-making ability. Center Amare Stoudemire is averaging a club-best 19.3 points, while fellow All-Star Shawn Marion, who is averaging 16.8 points per game, has collected a team-best 11.1 rebounds per contest. Phoenix has scored 100 or more points in all 13 of its victories. In three of their four losses, the Suns failed to reach the century mark. The Suns play the second of a five-game road trip when they visit the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday at Conseco Fieldhouse. It is the first of two meetings between the Suns and Indiana this season. Phoenix is scheduled to host the Pacers on January 9, 2008 at US Airways Center. The Suns have won four in a row in the series, and two straight at Indiana. On Sunday, Stoudemire scored 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Suns over the New York Knicks, 115-104, at Madison Square Garden. Hill finished with 28 points, scoring the first nine of the fourth quarter, and grabbed eight rebounds and dished out seven assists in the win over Indiana for the Suns, who have won two straight. Marion had 15 points and seven boards, while Nash collected nine points and 15 assists in the victory. The Suns are 7-2 on the road this season. They will visit the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday at Air Canada Centre, Washington Wizards on Friday at the Verizon Center and the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday at the Target Center.
