Vegas Q&A: Can I Avoid Cigarettes In Vegas?
Updated: 10:16 a.m. EDT August 18, 2003 Question: I'm very sensitive to cigarette smoke. Where is the best place for someone like me to go and have fun?
Steve in Memphis, Tenn. Answer: California. But seriously, folks ... Vegas enjoys its reputation for being a place for vices, and smoking is definitely one of them. However, all the hotels have nonsmoking floors and rooms, and all restaurants have nonsmoking sections (for whatever that's worth). A few restaurants have even gone totally nonsmoking but that's very rare. There is usually no smoking in the showrooms or most indoor attractions like Star Trek and the other motion-simulator rides. After that, it's pretty much open season. Many casinos offer nonsmoking gaming tables, but they are usually located right next to tables where others are puffing away, so it doesn't really save you much. Generally speaking, the casinos are big smoke pits. Even the bathrooms have ashtrays inside the stalls! If you really are that are sensitive to the smoke, I recommend staying out of the casinos and sticking to the shows and attractions. Enjoy! If you have a question you'd like to submit, click here.
