CLEVELAND -- Ladies, do you get the blues if you shop and spend too much money? If you do, you are not alone.
The condition affects only women and it's called shopper's guilt.
Cleveland TV station WEWS conducted an unscientific poll to point out how men and women shop differently.
John Cornacchione of Ticknors Ment Clothier followed in his father's footsteps of selling men's clothes.
"Typically, if a guy walks in, he's ready to do something now," he said. "Whereas a woman likes to compare and shop around." Shopper's guilt is when you spend too much money and then go home feeling guilty. For some women, they get over the guilty feeling quickly. Others don't, however. Jessica Pajur returns items when her guilt sets in. "Because I buy whatever I want, I may not be able to afford it, but I buy everything that I want then I feel bad about it," she said. Riddell Saddler, who considers himself a wise shopper, believes he's knowledgeable about women and their shopping habits. "From my experience with females, they love to shop," he said. "They get money however they get it, and they have a tendency to go out and spend it on whatever item they want." He added that for men it's different. "(They) earn money and have a tendency to hold onto it until they find that special toy or something they want and have no remorse for it," he said. Costen found a man who feels a little guilty when he overspends. "Oh, I feel like I buy too much sometimes if I overspend," Carl Griffin said.
