W.E.B. Du Bois

William Edward Burghardt Du Bois (February 23, 1868 - August 27, 1963) was an American civil rights activist, Pan-Africanist, sociologist, historian, author, and editor.

Many items that we take for granted on a daily basis were invented by African Americans. From household items to industrial tools, many African American inventors have received little credit for their outstanding strides in the advancement of every day life.

King Memorial opens

The statue of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was unveiled from scaffolding during the soft opening of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in Washington, Monday, Aug. 22, 2011. The memorial will be dedicated Sunday, Aug. 28.
