Atlanta Mayoral Candidates Debate On WSB-TV

ATLANTA -- Channel 2 Action News and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution partner together to bring Georgians a one hour, commercial free debate in the race for Atlanta Mayor.

“This is a great chance to hear where each of the candidates stand before you cast your vote on election day,” said Bill Hoffman, vice president and general manager for Channel 2 and wsbtv.com. “Our hope is that the environment is such that the candidates get to separate themselves from one another and the viewers become more informed voters.”Channel 2’s John Pruitt moderates the debate which includes Lisa Borders, Mary Norwood, Kasim Reed and Jesse Spikes.“Channel 2 Action News and wsbtv.com are dedicated to important issues,” said Marian Pittman, Channel 2’s news director. “Electing the next Mayor of Atlanta is a vital component to the success of our city and region,” she added.This critical debate focuses on public safety, police and fire department staffing, furloughs, the city’s budget crisis and other hot button issues.
