POLL: Democrat Martin Takes Lead For Senate Nomination

DeKalb CEO Vernon Jones Falls To Second Place

A new poll shows that Jim Martin has taken the lead in the race for the Democratic nomination to challenge Republican Sen. Saxby Chambliss.

The InsiderAdvantage poll shows 31 percent of likely voters prefer Martin over challengers Vernon Jones, Dale Cardwell, Rand Knight and Josh Lanier.

The primary election is Tuesday.

Here are the poll numbers:

  • Martin - 31 percent
  • Jones - 20 percent
  • Cardwell - 11 percent
  • Knight - 4 percent
  • Lanier - 1 percent
  • Undecided - 33 percent
  • The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus five percent.

    Just over a week ago Martin trailed Jones by eight percentage points.

    Cardwell dropped from second to third in the latest poll.
