Henrik Zetterberg scored a pair of goals for a second straight contest to lead the Detroit Red Wings past Pittsburgh, 3-1, at Joe Louis Arena. Nicklas Lidstrom added a goal and an assist for Detroit, which has won three in a row. Goaltender Chris Osgood was forced to make just 16 saves in the victory. Mark Recchi registered the lone tally for the Penguins, who have dropped seven of their last eight games. Sidney Crosby and Ryan Malone were both credited with assists, while Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 36 of the 39 shots he faced.

Alexander Steen and Tomas Kaberle scored second-period power-play goals to lift the Toronto Maple Leafs over the Mighty Ducks, 3-2, at Air Canada Centre. Jason Allison and Bryan McCabe tallied two assists apiece and Mikael Tellqvist made 27 saves for Toronto, which snapped a three-game losing streak. Kyle Wellwood added an unassisted goal for the Leafs. Rob Niedermayer and Teemu Selanne both notched goals and Jean-Sebastien Giguere stopped 24 of 27 shots for Anaheim, which has lost three of its last four contests.

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Dany Heatley scored the go-ahead goal early in the third period and added two assists, as the Ottawa Senators defeated the Colorado Avalanche, 6-2, at the Pepsi Center. Daniel Alfredsson had three assists, while Bryan Smolinski, Patrick Eaves, Brandon Bochenski, Mike Fisher and Christoph Schubert also scored for the Senators, who snapped a season-long two-game skid. Dominik Hasek made 22 saves for Ottawa. Marek Svatos and Patrice Brisebois both notched goals and Vitaliy Kolesnik stopped 25 of 31 shots for Colorado, which lost its second straight contest. Entering the third period tied at 2-2, Ottawa scored four unanswered goals, the last three 2:10 apart, to pull away from Colorado.

Rich Peverley notched the winner in the shootout and Slava Kozlov added insurance as Atlanta rallied from a two-goal deficit to down St. Louis, 3-2, at Philips Arena. Peverley began the shootout with a successful wrister then Andy McDonald of the Blues failed in his chance. Kozlov added another score before Brad Boyes' had the puck poke- checked away by Johan Hedberg. Boyes argued that his rebound, which was lifted into the net, counted as a shot but the closest official immediately waved off the goal. Tobias Enstrom and Ron Hainsey tallied in regulation for the Thrashers, who snapped a two-game slide. Hedberg made 30 saves. McDonald and David Perron scored for the Blues, who have dropped a season-high five straight games. Ty Conklin took the loss despite stopping 38 shots.
