Smith Out Again With Hamstring Injury

Posted: 2:06 pm EDT September 17, 2006

(Sports Network) - Carolina Panthers wide receiver Steve Smith will miss Sunday's game against Minnesota because of lingering hamstring problems.

Smith also missed last week's season-opener against Atlanta and the Carolina offense struggled without him, managing just two field goals in a 20-6 loss. He has missed practice all this week.

A strained left hamstring sustained early in training camp forced Smith to miss each of Carolina's four preseason games. He then injured his right hamstring during practice two weeks ago.

Smith led the NFL last season with 103 receptions, 1,563 yards and 12 touchdown catches.

The Panthers will also be without linebacker Dan Morgan, who suffered a concussion last Sunday against the Falcons.

Running back Nick Goings is also inactive for Carolina.
