Atlanta, GA -- (Sports Network) - Chris Redman passed for 251 yards with a career-high four touchdowns, including two to Alge Crumpler, as the Atlanta Falcons defeated the Seattle Seahawks, 44-41, in the regular-season finale for both teams. Redman completed 17-of-27 passes and Crumpler had three catches for 67 yards for the Falcons (4-12), who snapped a six-game losing skid. Warrick Dunn chipped in with 70 yards rushing and a score. He also had two catches for 10 yards and became only the seventh player in NFL history to rush for 10,000 yards and have 4,000 receiving yards in a career. Falcons interim head coach Emmitt Thomas, who took over for Bobby Petrino, earned his first career win and is now 1-2. Petrino resigned on December 11 to take the head coaching job at Arkansas. "I have been fortunate to play in some big football games, but to be the head coach of a group of guys is a hard thing to do," Thomas said. "There is nothing like winning a Super Bowl, but being able to lead this team for three games has been great. The support staff is great here. Any coach or general manager would be honored to have this group. It is a great organization." Roddy White chipped in with five catches for 62 yards and a score, while Joe Horn had three grabs for 32 yards and a TD in the win. Matt Hasselbeck completed 15-of-25 passes for 147 yards with a touchdown for Seattle (10-6), which lost for only the second time in its last eight games. Seneca Wallace took over for Hasselbeck in the second half and completed 17- of-22 passes for 206 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. The Seahawks, who had the NFC West Division title and No. 3 playoff seed locked up prior to the contest, rested several starters in the second half. Seattle will host the Washington Redskins in an NFC wild-card game on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. (e.t.). Nate Burleson pulled in seven passes for 119 yards and two scores, while Maurice Morris had 91 yards on the ground and a TD in defeat. Shaun Alexander and Bobby Engram also scored touchdowns for Seattle. Alexander's was the 100th rushing TD in his career. With the score tied at 17 heading into the third quarter, Josh Brown's 51-yard field goal midway through the period gave Seattle a brief three-point lead, but Morten Andersen booted a 37-yard on the Falcons' ensuing possession to even the game at 20. The back-and-forth affair continued when Morris's 29-yard TD run with 1:19 left in the third period gave the Seahawks a short-lived lead, but Atlanta responded in a big way. Redman's short dump off to Crumpler turned into a 55- yard score when the tight end bounced off a few would-be tacklers and rumbled the distance on the first play of the fourth quarter. Atlanta wasn't finished as Wallace fumbled on Seattle's next possession and two plays later Redman found Crumpler again, this time for a seven-yard score to give the Falcons a 34-27 advantage. After Chris Crocker picked off Wallace and returned it to the Seattle 10-yard line, Redman's hot hand continued as the journeyman quarterback found White on a short pass that turned into seven more. However a 45-yard Wallace to Burleson hook up, cut the Seahawks' deficit to 41-34. "My main thing coming into this game was just protecting the ball and not giving them points," Wallace said. "Unfortunately, I didn't do that today. We came back and got some points but we fell short. It happens but we have to bounce back for the playoffs." Andersen's 32-yard field goal with 3:23 left gave the Falcons a 10-point lead. Burleson's, second touchdown of the contest, a 13-yard grab from Wallace, made it a 44-41 game with 54 ticks remaining. The Seahawks onside kick was initially recovered by Seattle, but Burleson was flagged for offsides, negating the play. Seattle's second attempt was recovered by Atlanta, which ran out the clock to end the game. Seattle moved the ball with ease against the Falcons' defense on the first set of the game, finding the end zone after mounting a 10-play, 77-yard drive. Starting at their own 23, Hasselbeck hit Engram for 15 yards, then connected with Burleson for eight more. Four plays later Morris ripped off 18 on the ground, taking it to the Atlanta 20-yard line. After an incompletion by Hasselbeck, Alexander ran for 15 and two plays later pounded it up the middle for a two-yard score, giving the Seahawks the early lead. It was Alexander's 100th career rushing touchdown. Brown's 54-yard field goal early in the second quarter extended Seattle's lead to 10-0. Atlanta responded on its ensuing series, when Redman hit Horn for a four-yard TD with 9:34 left in the first half. Redman completed 4-of-4 passes on the drive. Following a failed onside kick attempt by Atlanta, the Seahawks took over on the Falcons' 45 and appeared to be ready to tack on more points. However, Hasselbeck was flagged for an intentional grounding penalty, setting up a 3rd- and-40 situation near midfield. Hasselbeck then tried rolling right, but was sacked by John Abraham, forcing the Seahawks' signal-caller to fumble. Jonathan Babineaux picked up the loose ball and ran down the near sidelines, but fumbled with the ball eventually going out of bounds. Atlanta maintained possession at the Seattle 32 and Redman connected with White down the seam for 27 yards, taking it to the five-yard line. Dunn then ran around the right end and into the end zone, giving the Falcons a 14-10 lead. Seattle got the lead right back when Hasselbeck found Engram for a 30-yard TD, capping a nine-play, 83-yard drive with 1:10 left in the half, but Andersen's 30-yard field goal as time expired, tied the contest at 17 heading into the intermission.Game Notes:The Falcons snapped a four-game losing streak versus Seattle and are now 3-8 all-time against the Seahawks...Redman now has at least two touchdown passes in four of his last five games...Seattle head coach Mike Holmgren is 6-2 versus the Falcons for his career.
