Woman's Body Found In Trunk Of Car

BUFORD, Ga. — Gwinnett County police officials said they found a body in the trunk of a car early Tuesday morning.

Police said they got a call about a suspicious car parked on a driveway on Bona Road in Buford. When police arrived, officers interviewed the driver of the car, police said.

At one point, the driver fled and officers chased him. One of the officers broke his ankle during the foot chase, police said.

Investigators came back to the car and searched it. Inside the trunk, police found what they said appeared to be a body of a woman.

"My understanding is that the body was not decomposed. The individual did not have the appearance of having been in the trunk for long. Of course, the Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy this morning to determine the cause," said Cpl. Brian Kelly of the Gwinnett County Police Department.

Police continue to search for the driver of the car.

The name of the victim has not been released.
