Three winners net over $2 million from Georgia Lottery

ATLANTA — A trio of winners recently won over $2 million dollars from the Georgia Lottery.

A winning Georgia Lottery instant ticket worth $1.5 million was sold in Canton. Bagwell & Spears No. 0042, located at 6135 Hickory Flat Road, sold the winning ticket from the new instant game Jumbo Jumbo Bucks – Anniversary Edition. The winner, Michael Whatley of Cumming, claimed his prize July 26 at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Duluth.

Victoria Soares of Atlanta claimed her $500,000 prize Tuesday at the Georgia Lottery headquarters in Atlanta. Soares won the prize playing the instant game Lucky Bucks on a ticket sold in College Park.

Willie Gager of Axson won $227,137 on a tick sold in Atkinson County. Gager matched all five numbers from the July 27 Fantasy 5 drawing.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
