DeKALB CO., Ga. —
Heavy rainfall and wind caused damage throughout metro Atlanta over the weekend, and more storms soaked Georgia Monday morning.
Overly saturated ground is being blamed for causing a massive tree to split in half and fall on top of a DeKalb County home on Monday morning.
The owners of the home on Drew Valley Road near Buford Highway called 911 when the tree crashed on top of their home.
None of the branches pierced the roof, but the fire department still considered the situation to be dangerous enough to put tape up around the entire house. They want to make sure everyone stays out until the tree can be removed.
The fire department said no one was hurt, but branches and limbs are covering the yard and cleanup will be extensive.
