ATLANTA —
Light snow and mixed precipitation fell in north Georgia on Tuesday, but as flurries moved out the cold remained.
Temperatures continued to remain in the 30s across the area Wednesday morning, a day after snow blanketed trees and cars in the north Georgia mountains.
"I don't know what to think about 70 degrees last week and now, we're in the 30s," said Blue Ridge resident AJ Sharpe.
"The heaviest snow was confined to Pickens and Gilmer counties, with a trace up to 1 inch of snow. There were numerous reports of flurries around the metro area, most of the reports were north of Interstate 20," said meteorologist David Chandley
Channel 2’s Richard Elliot was on Highway 52 near Ellijay, where snow stuck to the trees and some rooftops, but the ground was too warm for it to stick to the roads.
"Lots of little tiny flakes but by the time they hit the ground they had melted, unfortunately," said Ellijay resident Kathy Pults.
“Well, it was snowing pretty hard about daylight, but then it melted off,” grocery store worker Marcell Teal said.
Snow had mainly moved out of the state by evening but there was still a chance of a few flakes late Tuesday, according to Chandley.
"Wednesday will see decreasing clouds with highs in the upper 40s and low 50s. Milder air will roll in by the end of the week with highs in the mid 60s by Friday," Chandley said.
