Waycross man hits high note with $3M in winnings

ATLANTA — Ronnie Music Jr. of Waycross has hit a high note after winning a multi-million dollar prize from the Georgia Lottery. Music, 44, played the instant game 100X The Money, winning a $3 million top prize.

Papa’s Deli #0002, 6509 Alma Highway in Waycross, sold the winning ticket. Music scratched the ticket while at home.

“I buy tickets every once in awhile,” he said. “I couldn’t believe it, and I still don’t believe it yet.”

A maintenance supervisor, Music and his wife, Mary, intend to save a portion of the winnings.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $16 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.7 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
