EL PASO, Texas — A Texas doughnut shop said one of its customers was caught on camera throwing the confections at an employee who asked her to wear a face mask inside the store.
According to KTSM, the incident occurred Sunday at the Dapper Doughnut shop in El Paso. A man and woman were waiting to receive their food when supervisor Lauren Keener asked them to wear their masks, which are required inside businesses in the city, the news outlet reported. The request angered the woman, who threw her box of doughnuts at Keener and asked for their money back, Keener told KTSM. When managers refused, the man took a mug from a store shelf without paying for it, and the couple left, Keener said.
Surveillance videos obtained by KFOX show the woman throwing the box over the counter and the man leaving the shop with the mug.

Keener told KTSM that the man and woman weren't the first customers to balk at the rule.
"There are always those people that like to get confrontational with you, even if it's just verbally, and they'll say, 'Fine, I'll just leave home without doughnuts today,'" Keener said. "And I'll say, 'That's fine; I'm just trying to keep my employees and customers safe as possible.'"
Store employees reported the incident to El Paso police and security officials in their building, KTSM reported. No further information was immediately available.
