Texas church where deadly shooting took place often posted videos of services

SUTHERLAND SPRINGS, Texas — The small Texas church where a gunman shot and killed 26 people Sunday often recorded its services and posted the videos on social media.

The YouTube page for the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs shows that church leaders frequently documented Sunday services. The last video uploaded on the page was recorded one week before the shooting. During the Oct. 29 service, Pastor Frank Pomeroy told his congregation that they should always be ready to profess their love of God.

"Profess that with your mouth, believe that with your heart, and so shall you be saved," Pastor Frank Pomeroy told the congregation.

Nearly every video on the page begins with the congregants of the church filing into their seats. They are seen greeting their neighbors and exchanging pleasantries as they prepare to worship their faith. The services begin with songs from a group of musicians gathered at the altar. They then segue into a long sermon, usually given by Pomeroy, with some interruptions for more music. The services end with salutations and church announcements.

Tragedy struck the church Sunday when a shooter, identified by The Associated Press and other news outlets as Devin Kelley, opened fire on parishioners, killing 26 and wounding 20.

It was not known whether Sunday's service was being recorded.
