WESTMINSTER, Colo. — If a homeowner in Colorado had any plans on grilling out Saturday, one look at this grill would have quickly made it a take-out night instead.

That’s because a large bull snake was found curled around a grill in Westminster. The Colorado Association of Animal Control said that the snake was climbing up the grill to try and reach baby birds in a robin’s nest.

Animal Control said bull snakes can be aggressive, and homeowners who spot one on their property should either call animal control or let the snake slither away on its own. Typically, Animal Control in the area does not remove the snake unless there is a safety risk.

In addition, officers want to remind pet owners to keep their dogs on a leash while walking along trails to reduce the risk of an unpleasant encounter with a snake.
