'Most Interesting Man' replaced; changes in store for Dos Equis ad campaign

You may not know his name, Jonathan Goldsmith, but you know him as "The Most Interesting Man in the World."

Goldsmith has been the face of Dos Equis beer since 2006, but the 77-year-old actor will be making his final appearance in an ad that starts airing Thursday, Ad Age reported.

But fans of the idea of being the "Most Interesting" will not be disappointed, a new actor will star in the ads scheduled for the fall.

In his final ad, Goldsmith will board a one-way trip to Mars. His parting words for the ad -- "Stay thirsty my friends."

Goldsmith's character has become a pop culture icon, inspiring memes across the Internet and Halloween costumes, USA Today reported.

Parent company Heineken USA will not say who will be the new face or what the ads will look like, but said they will pair with the new sponsorship of the college football playoff.

Goldsmith has been on shows since the 1960s including "Bonanza," "Knight Rider" and "Dallas."
