Paul Nixon, 51, filed for a divorce from his wife on Feb. 15, the Houston Chronicle reported, citing court records. A judge approved the split in April, according to the newspaper.

Officials with the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office said they were contacted in May by Nixon's wife. She told a deputy that she had learned her husband had filed for and completed divorce proceedings without her knowledge.

Investigators determined Nixon forged several documents with his wife's signature and the signature of a notary public as part of the divorce proceedings. Authorities said he committed aggravated perjury when he testified to the validity of the documents during the final divorce hearing.

Constables said the court granted a motion to set aside the divorce after learning about Nixon's alleged forgery. The Chronicle reported no divorce proceedings appear to have been filed since then.

Nixon is wanted on one count of aggravated perjury, a third-degree felony that carries a maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment, if he is found guilty.
