ATLANTA, Ga. -- Thirty-seven minutes to paradise.
For most Atlanta travelers visiting St. Simons, Jekyll, Sea Island, Little St. Simons or Brunswick, 37 minutes won't even get them halfway to Macon, but wsbtv.com working in conjunction with the Brunswick and Golden Isles Convention and Visitors Bureau decided to take that trip using a little different route.
Instead of heading down Interstate 75 to Interstate 16 to Interstate 95, wsbtv.com headed down Interstate 85 when the downtown connector split and boarded a quick flight to Brunswick.
"We have three round-trips a day by the Delta commuter (Atlantic Southeast Airlines)," Glynn County Airport Commission Executive Director Steve Brian told wsbtv.com.
"They provide the same times everyday except for Saturday, which we only have two aircraft during those days," Brian continued. "But a very consistent schedule with 50-passenger regional jets, very comfortable 37 minutes from Atlanta and we've had that service for over 40 years here in Brunswick."

By the time travelers locate their seat, enjoy a snack and listen to two songs, they're arriving in Brunswick.
The Brunswick Golden Isles Airport only has one baggage claim area so visitors don't have to search far and wide to try to locate their baggage. There isn't the hustle and bustle of a major airport hub either.
"We tried to make it feel like a relaxed resort community and make the terminal and its atmosphere like an old hotel," Brian said.
There are three rental car agencies should visitors need a vehicle while visiting.
Once arriving, there's a multitude of activities visitors can enjoy.
"I think it's one of the more pleasant experiences you'll have at a smaller airport in the whole country and certainly on your way in and out of Brunswick, it makes it really convenient," Brian said.
Flying to Brunswick and the Golden Isles will save most travelers about two hours when comparing the time to fly vs. the time to drive. Brunswick and Golden Isles officials though believe there's more to it than just saving a couple of hours of traveling time. By flying rather than driving, travelers will arrive refreshed and relaxed after a short flight down. Visitors can get up to date on their e-mails and anything else pressing in the airport before their flight leaves. That's compared to a five hour cramped car ride down, including a long stretch across Interstate 16. Relaxed and refreshed aren't terms most people use to describe that.
Travelers have a choice when visiting Brunswick and the Golden Isles, a five-hour drive down or 37 minutes to paradise.
