Travel 240 feet in the air on new ride at Six Flags

AUSTELL, Ga. — When Six Flags Over Georgia kicks off the summer season of thrills on Memorial Day weekend, there will be one new, very big reason to scream - SkyScreamer.

SkyScreamer is the all-new extreme swing ride at Six Flags. It lifts riders 240 feet into the air, 24 stories up. Riders form a 98-feet-wide circle and reach speed of 40 miles per hour. It's the tallest ride ever at the park, four stories taller than Goliath.

"It was a feeling of, wow, I'm actually up here," rider Dillon Frazier told Nelson's News. "And then you look down and notice how high up you are; it's kind of unnerving, but it's really fun."

"You're way up there, you're way out," rider Chris Niarchos said. "It was scary, fun, exciting, all of the above."

As part of the media day event announcing the ride,  Six Flags Over Georgia brought in more than 30 people dressed as pigs and packed them onto SkyScreamer for a couple rides. The park was playing on the idiom of when pigs fly.

SkyScreamer is the focal point of the park's new offerings for 2013. Other additions include a new membership program, a new all-season dining plan where season ticket holders can eat lunch and dinner each day at the park and a new restaurant called Macho Nacho.
