CUMMING, Ga. —

The Chattahoochee Cougars played like defending champions Thursday, shutting out South Forsyth 34-0 in the Sports Zone Thursday Night Game of the Week.

The Cougars turned the ball over on the first drive of the game; however, they stuffed the War Eagles on fourth down-and-one at their own one-yard line.

The defending AAAA champions proceeded to go 99 yards, capping the drive with C.J. Leggett's 18-yard touchdown run for a 7-0 lead.

Later in the first, Tyler Marshall hit a streaking Marcus Sayles in stride for a 78-yard score to push the Cougars' lead to 14-0.

The Hooch defense then played a part in each of the next three scores, as senior Connor Winn returned a South Forsyth fumble 65 yards for a second-quarter touchdown to push the lead to 21-0.

With 1:08 left before the half, the War Eagles were threatening, until Trey Hart came up with an interception inside the Cougars' five-yard line.

Two plays later, Chase Nelson burst through the line for a 97-yard touchdown run.  Although the Cougars missed the PAT, they led 27-0 at halftime.

Barely two minutes into the third quarter, Connor Winn scored his second touchdown of the day, as he returned an interception 43 yards for the 34-0 final margin.

Chattahoochee entered the game in a three-way tie for first place in Region 7 AAAA with Johns Creek and Lambert.

Next Thursday's Game of the Week matches Etowah and Lassiter.
