Georgia QB Arrested On Alcohol Charges

 

REMERTON, Ga. —

Police arrested a quarterback for the Georgia football team on a series of alcohol-related charges early Sunday morning.

Officers arrested Zach Mettenberger, 18, at Flip Flops bar in Lowndes County at 1:36 a.m., according to an arrest report e-mailed to Channel 2 Action News by Remerton Police Chief Mike Terrell.

The report shows that police charged Mettenberger with underage consumption/possession of alcohol, disorderly conduct, obstruction and two counts of having fake identification.

Police took the 6 foot, 6 inch, 229-pound Mettenberger to the Lowndes County Jail. He was later released on bond.

Mettenberger, a redshirt freshman from Oconee County, is one of three candidates for Georgia’s starting quarterback job.

UGA sources said head coach Mark Richt is aware of the arrest.
