Athens, Ga. —

Channing Toney shot 3-of-4 beyond the arc and finished with a team-high 18 points in helping to lead the Georgia Bulldogs to an 89-65 win over the Catamounts of Western Carolina in non-conference action from Stegeman Coliseum.

Mike Mercer added 17 points off the bench for the Bulldogs (9-3) as they won their second straight game, with Levi Stukes posting 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting beyond the arc.

The Catamounts (7-8) were paced by Corey Muirhead who put up game highs of 20 points and 12 rebounds in a reserve role, while David Berghoefer contributed 13 points as well in the squad's second straight setback.

Despite shooting 50 percent from the field in the first half, the Catamounts still found themselves trailing at the break, 39-30, as Georgia converted 9- of-17 attempts behind the three-point line in the frame.

In the second half Western Carolina continued to take high-percentage shots, making 55 percent from the field, but the Bulldogs converted a sizzling 60.9 percent from the floor in claiming the easy 24-point win.

Georgia finished the day knocking down 14-of-25 chances out on the perimeter, compared to just 2-of-9 for the Catamounts. Western Carolina, which turned the ball over 25 times, also cost itself at the free-throw line where it made only 19-of-33 opportunities.
