DUI Charges Dropped For Braves' Derek Lowe

ATLANTA —

DUI charges against Atlanta Braves pitcher Derek Lowe have been dropped.

Lowe was stopped by a Georgia State Patrol trooper last month after he was spotted racing another car, GSP spokesman Gordy Wright said. Wright said the trooper smelled an alcoholic drink in his car.

Lowe declined to take a breath test but failed a field sobriety test, Wright said.

Police arrested Lowe on charges of DUI and reckless driving, Wright said.

A judge with the Municipal Court of Atlanta dismissed the charges Thursday, saying there was a lack of evidence after reviewing police video.
