See Cast Of Characters, Wedding Proposal At Dragon*Con

ATLANTA, Ga. — The streets of downtown Atlanta may be safer, or less safe, now that Labor Day weekend has come and gone.

Superman, Batman and Robin, the Joker and Darth Vader were just a few of the thousands of visitors to the area for Dragon*Con.

Dragon*Con is the, "World's largest multi-media, popular culture convention focusing on science fiction and fantasy, gaming, comics, literature, art, music, and film in the universe!" states the website for Dragon*Con.

2010 marked the 24th Dragon*Con. The event is annually held in Atlanta on Labor Day weekend. It's estimated that more than 40,000 people attend Dragon*Con. Thousands more venture downtown to witness the spectacle.

The event includes movie screenings, costume contests, panel discussions, autograph signings, and countless other science-fiction related programming. One of the most popular events is a parade through the streets of Atlanta.

Many Dragon*Con attendees attended the events in costume. It's a normal site to see Storm Troopers, Spider-man or a host of other costumed characters dining, walking or hanging out downtown.

Nelson's News attended the Masquerade costume contest Sunday night. The event included a little bit of everything.

There were some impressive costumes.

Some strange ones, too.

The cheerleaders, or at least people dressed like them, from Saturday Night Live performed.

There was even a marriage proposal.

Some of the performances were, well, hard to describe.

While others speak for themselves.

Dragon*Con wrapped up Monday and all the attendees boarded their Batmobiles, or other mode of transportation, and headed back home.

Next year marks the 25th annual Dragon*Con and organizers expect it to be the greatest one yet.
