• Retired butcher slices $275K Fantasy 5 prize in Stone Mountain

    One retired butcher in Stone Mountain has edged a jackpot prize playing Fantasy 5. Nathaniel Drake, 74, matched all five numbers from the Feb. 28 Fantasy 5 drawing, winning the $275,247 jackpot prize.

     

    Drake purchased his winning Quik Pik at Su-Kab Convenience Store, 4092 Redan Road in Stone Mountain.

     

    Winning numbers from the Feb. 28 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 6-8-19-23-27.

     

    “I usually watch the drawing, but I missed it,” he said.

     

    The lucky winner and his wife, Sherrie, have five adult children and a “bunch” of grandchildren.

     

    “I’ll see about my children,” Drake shared on plans for his windfall.

     

    Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $15 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
