Officials said the boyfriend shot and killed his 17-year-old girlfriend on Detroit Avenue in northwest Atlanta just after 1 a.m. Wednesday.
Police said the girl died on the front porch of a home from a single gunshot wound to the head.
"It appears from the witnesses that the incident may have been domestic," said Lt. Paul Guerrucci of the Atlanta Police Department.
Teen Accused Of Shooting Pregnant Girlfriend Sought
Police said the victim's 19-year-old boyfriend was the gunman.
"The subject who shot the victim ran from the scene," said Guerrucci.
Sources close to the investigation told Channel 2 Action News reporter Darryn Moore that the victim was pregnant.
Police said they believe a confrontation between the two triggered the shooting.
"It appears there was some type of argument and, at this point, we're not clear on what the actual parameters of that argument was about," said Guerrucci.
Police said neighbors were able to give detectives some strong leads.
Authorities said they do have a nickname for the suspect. Police have not released the victim's name.
