Police make arrest in death of beaten Cobb Co. Marine

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — After weeks of investigating, Cobb County police tell Channel 2 Action News they have made an arrest in the case of a local Marine who was beaten, run over and later died.

Zach Gamble, 34, of Acworth, passed away from his injuries earlier this month.

Police said they arrested Sean Hall, 38, of Atlanta, in connection to Gamble's death and have charged him with aggravated assault, aggravated battery and murder.

Investigators said Gamble was severely beaten after a party at the Concord Chase Apartment complex in Smyrna on March 25, 2012.

Police said Gamble was left for dead in the parking lot of the complex. Hours later a taxi cab ran over Gamble, not realizing someone was there. The driver then called police.

Gamble died from his injuries on April 8. He left behind a 7-year-old son, Luke.

After Gamble's death, his family spoke to Channel 2's Carl Willis.

"My family's heart is completely broken," said Gamble's aunt, Brandy Cook. "Zach has always been the glue to our family."

Gamble had served two tours of duty in Iraq.

Hall was arrested at his place of business in Cherokee County. He is currently being held without bond.

Investigators said they are trying to iron out the details of the argument between Gamble and Hall.
