ATLANTA - Atlanta police say two elderly residents were stabbed by another resident at their senior housing high-rise.
Police said the attack happened at the Baptist Towers Apartments on Myrtle Street late Monday night.
Capt. Tim Peek said both victims were rushed to the hospital. One is in stable condition, but the other was killed.
The victim who was killed has been identified as Mary Oliver. Her daughter, Ellen Varner, told Channel 2's Darryn Moore the suspect lived three floors below her mother.
Varner said the suspect first stabbed another resident, and then came after her mother.
"Went home and took a shower, came down and kicked my mother's door in, got her butcher's knife out of the kitchen, stabbed her," Varner said.
Oliver died at the hospital from her injuries. Barner said Tuesday would have been her mother's 76th birthday.
Police have another resident in custody and charges are pending.
