Peachtree City man claims $1 million Powerball prize

ATLANTA — A Peachtree City man has claimed a $1 million Powerball prize from the Aug. 7 drawing. Braelinn Village Chevron, located at 1239 Robinson Road in Peachtree City, sold the winning ticket.

The winner, Matthew Beecher, is one of three winners to win $1 million, matching the first five numbers, from the $488 million Powerball drawing.

Additional tickets worth $1 million in winnings were purchased in Pooler and Stockbridge.

Beecher claimed his prize at Georgia Lottery headquarters Aug. 16.

Winning numbers from the Aug. 7 Powerball drawing were: 5-25-30-58-59 and the Powerball was 32.

Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot is at an estimated $70 million to a single annuity winner.

Powerball tickets are $2 per play. Players can add the Power Play feature for an additional $1 per play to multiply non-jackpot prize winnings.

As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Powerball will benefit education in the state of Georgia.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
